What is Google Adwords?

What is Google Adwords and who should use it? This is a brief Adwords overview which explains what it is and how it can drastically affect your business and your sales.

Think of all the people who search Google daily, wouldn’t it be nice to get your online store on the front page of the Google page? Well that is exactly what Adwords allows you to do, but it is going to cost you.

Adwords is a Pay Per Click model, meaning you have to pay each time a visitor clicks on your ad and goes to your site. Advertisers bid on how much they are willing to pay and the top bidders go to the top of the rankings.

For example, if you sell pool tables and the top bidder is paying $.59 Per Click for the keyword phrase, “pool tables” you can out rank them by bidding $.60 Per Click.

Now let’s look at where these ads appear because they do not appear in the “normal” search.

what is google adwords

A Google search is split into 2 sections. The middle section is where Google naturally ranks the most relevant sites based on their own Algorithms. The right hand side is the spot for sponsored partners. This right hand side is where all of the Adwords advertisers get listed.

Even though they are on the side of the search results they can still bring in a lot of traffic because Google is such a high trafficked site.

What is Adsense and Setting it up

To set it up you first have to go to the official Google Adwords homepage and sign up for an account. Once your account is active you can search for different keywords and get an idea of how much traffic you can receive for each keyword and for the amount you are willing to pay per click for that keyword.

Mess around with their keyword tool a little bit before you set up a campaign because it can really be useful in getting the best deal.

What is Google Adwords and The Idea Behind it

Who should use Google Adwords? Anyone with a business that makes enough money to justify the cost. The idea behind Adwords is that advertisers know exactly how much they are paying and per visitor so they should be able to use that to figure out if they are making enough money per visitor to justify the cost.

This can be a pretty nice way to drive traffic to your site. If you figure out how much each unique visitor is worth to your bottom line and keep the amount you are paying below that number it does have the potential to literally explode your business.

Just be sensible about it, you can pay $100 per click if you want and outrank everyone else, but if you are not making enough to justify that it can be the fastest way to ruin your business.
