Clickbank Scam or Real Opportunity?

Is there a Clickbank scam going on? Can you make money with Clickbank or is it just another Get Rich Quick Scheme? If you are looking for Clickbank reviews then you will get everything you need to know on this page.

I previously wrote the article, What is Clickbank, if you don’t know it is pretty much a place where information product sellers and affiliates willing to help sell their products for a commission come together.

There are many struggling Clickbank affiliates out there who wonder if they are just being scammed out of their time and making someone else rich. Well speaking as a Clickbank affiliate myself, they do pay. I have personally gotten checks from them and I’ve talked to people who are making 4 digits a month with their program. The opportunity is real and it is not a scam.

However there is a fine line between being legitimate and being a scam, when it comes to Clickbank.

The reason, Clickbank does not do a very good job managing the program. It is suppose to work like this, a Clickbank affiliate sends a customer to a Clickbank vendor. That customer buys the product and both the affiliate and the vendor split the profits.

In reality there are a lot of schemes going on by Clickbank venders who attempt to prevent their affiliates from making their commission. So, it is up to you to pick out the good affiliates that do not try and ripe you off from the affiliates that are just trying to get free advertising.

How do you do this?

While there is no guaranteed way to tell which products will sell, here are a few things to watch out for when choosing a product on Clickbank to promote.

1. Sales Pages With Other Ads On Them

I‘ve seen sales pages with third party ads on them! There is only one reason why they would have third party ads on their sales page, because their product doesn’t sale! Who in their right mind would settle for making a small profit from a third party if their own site actually converts.

If you send traffic to their site and they make money off of those ads you do not benefit at all, it is just free money for them at your expense.

2. Other products offered

It is a shame, but one product I found on Clickbank that seems to convert really well for me offers other products on the side. If a visitor buys their main product I get a commission, but if they click away and buy another product I get nothing.

3. Newsletter Sign Ups

A lot of the products on Clickbank will try to get people to sign up for a newsletter instead of buying the product now. If they do, these venders can then follow up and if they make the sale using their own link later on you get nothing, even if you lead the customer to the newsletter. This is a pretty big Clickbank scam that can rip you out of your commissions.

4. PayPal Button

This is a real Clickbank scam here, Clickbank offers a full payment service. They allow people to pay with credit cards or PayPal. However some venders will have a PayPal option at the bottom below Clickbank’s “buy now” button. If a customer clicks on it and buys it through their PayPal button Clickbank has no way of tracking the sale and you do not get any credit for it.

5. Fishy Things

A Clickbank scam may come in many different forms so look though the site before making your decision. You might find something you don’t like.

I used to promote a product that paid me $26 per sale and sold it regularly. Then one day the profits stopped coming so I decided to check it out. They offered the product for around $40 and when I clicked on the buy now button a banner came up saying, “wait click here to buy the product for $25 instead”

That little banner cut me out of the commission because it took them to another site with another payment method. Honestly he probably increased his profits for a little while by doing it, but as people started figuring him out and stopped promoting the product I’m sure it hurt him more then it helped him.

Is it Worth It?

Clickbank can be very profitable, but it can also be a headache at times. There are other affiliate networks that monitor their venders better than Clickbank. But in the end if you can find one or two products on Clickbank that sell regularly it can be quite profitable.

If you are one of those struggling Clickbank affiliates then there are other networks out there that may fit your needs better.
