Ok, so what is average? The average FICO Score is said to be 678. According to Fair Issac the median score is 723. What’s the difference? The average can be found by adding up all the scores and dividing them by that number. The median is simply the number in the middle of the list scores. For instance the median of (1, 5, 9) is 5, but the average is 7.5. The fact that the Average is so far below the median suggest that most people in the US have a decent score with a few rally bad scores drawing the average down.
